god i am a dork.
i was just watching Sam Fogarino play drums in an Interpol video that i just d/l'd and i caught a glimpse of his drumsticks and noticed that he might be playing them backwards. so instead of just acknowledging that and moving on with my life, i had to find out for sure.
so i opened the video using a different program (ULead) which allows me to watch the video in slow-mo and IT IS TRUE!!! HE IS PLAYING WITH BACKWARDS STICKS!!! and the interesting thing is - he switches them from forward to backward!!! in the beginning of "Evil", he's playing them the normal way, and then halfway through the song, he switches! i want to see him switch!!! *goes to watch again*
why is this so important? because i do THE SAME THING!!! i think that perhaps every drummer does this at some point in their playing lifetime. it just makes me wonder now, how often does he do this? does he do this for every song? is it something that he just does when he feels like it? the possibilities are endless and i am having waaayyyy too much fun thinking about it.
Sam is one of the best drummers that i have ever listened to. he's not super fancy, but i love his style and his timing is impeccable.
*realizes that i am desperate need of a Sam icon*
