god i am a dork.

i was just watching Sam Fogarino play drums in an Interpol video that i just d/l'd and i caught a glimpse of his drumsticks and noticed that he might be playing them backwards. so instead of just acknowledging that and moving on with my life, i had to find out for sure.

so i opened the video using a different program (ULead) which allows me to watch the video in slow-mo and IT IS TRUE!!! HE IS PLAYING WITH BACKWARDS STICKS!!! and the interesting thing is - he switches them from forward to backward!!! in the beginning of "Evil", he's playing them the normal way, and then halfway through the song, he switches! i want to see him switch!!! *goes to watch again*

why is this so important? because i do THE SAME THING!!! i think that perhaps every drummer does this at some point in their playing lifetime. it just makes me wonder now, how often does he do this? does he do this for every song? is it something that he just does when he feels like it? the possibilities are endless and i am having waaayyyy too much fun thinking about it.

Sam is one of the best drummers that i have ever listened to. he's not super fancy, but i love his style and his timing is impeccable.

*realizes that i am desperate need of a Sam icon*

i got an ipod mini for christmas from my employer! this was definitely an awesome thing. the only slight inconvenience is that i had to re-rip my entire cd collection to mp3, since my collection was ripped to wma before. since i am anal, i didn't want to simply convert the files, i had to re-rip them, and of course, at a higher bit-rate for better quality. so i ended up ripping all the cds at 192kbps. i will definitly fill up the 4gigs on it easily, i will just have to be choosy about which songs i put on there, instead of freely putting an entire album on it. and i most certainly will not be able to put 1000 songs on there since i'm ripping at 192k now. oh well, there is a difference. and another thing, the stock headphones that you get are really crappy. so i've got go and get another set.

how is this possible? it's not like my house is a pig stye. my house is very neat thankyouverymuch.
i have looked everywhere. it's nowhere to be found. i just used it last night. it's not under the bed, nor in the bed anywhere.
there is only one explanation. clearly, i have subsconsciously put the remote in some fucked up place.
this fucked up place is going to be a good one once i find it.
oh yes, i can't wait to see it when i do find it.

so, today i went to see motorcycle diaries. wow, what a film! i knew i was going to love this film when i saw the trailer, and it wasn't just because of the lead actor being hot. i had a revelation today, and that revelation was that i am deeply influenced by the soundtrack of a movie (i think most people are, actually, not just me) and this is one of the reasons why i wanted to see this movie - the soundtrack is fucking awesome. the parts of the soundtrack that got me the most were the simplest of songs, like a single guitar playing, or a flute, or a piano.

it goes without saying that the story itself is incredibly amazing. i'm not going to go into that much, because actually i would like to do some more research on this guy.

this movie was beautifully filmed in south america. makes me want to travel there.

oh, and i saw a trailer for a new movie with audrey tautou (sp?) from amelie, called a very long engagement, looks like an epic film not to be missed.

another one to see is veronica drake - the trailer made me cry and i don't even know what it's all about.

today i've done nothing but...

listen to incubus songs on a continuous loop
check my f-list on my other LJ
read emails
write emails to myself that make no sense
write emails to friends that i analyze too much and rewrite over and over again
stare at the computer screen
look at pictures of movie stars

some other things i did...

made a spreadsheet of all of the shit that i'm supposed to be doing at work
went to NOS with phil
discovered that i had been calling NOS the wrong thing all this time by calling it "NAS" for some strange reason. there's no "A" in "Never on Sunday" ahahaha
went to a meeting this morning

some other things that happened...

the maintenance guy came over and contemplated installing a keyboard tray under my desk
someone from IT called and accused me of logging into the projector computer in the conference room - WTF?
